Gouvia village

The village of Gouvia was once a thriving fishing village that adopted its name from “Goby” fish that were found abundantly in the area.

Today, this once sleepy, fishing village has developed into a modern resort with all modern necessities and resources to ensure your unforgettable holiday.

Along the coast of Gouvia, one will find an array of shops, international and Greek cuisine restaurants, traditional tavernas and sea food shucks as well as enough night life to see you through the early hours of dawn. If you feel like preparing that special meal for yourselves, you can stock up in food supplies from the local supermarkets that you will come across within walking distance from our premises. You can also browse through the fine jewellery stores, or buy your gifts for your loved ones from the souvenir shops in the area.

On the outskirts of the village and between the port and the beach, you can visit the Venetian ruins of a naval station.


GOUVIA MARINA

This area was chosen by the Venetian sea masters in the 17th century as the most suitable location for the creation of a naval base and a shipyard. The reason for this was that the bay of Gouvia is a perfect, natural connection between the Adriatic and Mediterranean seas.

Carrying on the tradition of the old Sea Masters, today, the visitor will come across a fully organised, high end marina that can accommodate up to 960 boats, (up to 60 meter long and 6 meter depth), for either short or longer term boat docking.

The marina itself is very organised providing a variety of different services to its visitors, whether experienced sea masters or sailing enthusiasts, (such as food provisions, launderettes, etc. ). Full technical and engineering support is also provided, (from local experts), as well as taxis one may need or car rental agencies. Your security is guaranteed within the marina area, since there is a 24 hr security checks in both entrances of the marina.
